DELIVERY & SET-UP

Quick Questions:

  • Is the existing furniture removed, cords unplugged and valuables placed somewhere safe from breakage?

  • Can our delivery truck fit down your road and in your driveway?

  • Is the entry area clear and ready for delivery?

  • Will the furniture fit through all doorways (exterior / interior)?

  • Will it fit down hallways, on landings and around corners?

  • Is the delivery on a second floor?  If so, your delivery coordinator needs to be notified.

  • Do you have a balance due?  Payment may be made by cash, personal check or credit card (the card must physically be present, for security reasons with our credit card processing services, numbers cannot be keyed or verbally phoned in)

Q:  How should I prepare for the delivery day?

A:  In preparation for your delivery, remove pictures, accessories, ect. from the walls to prevent damage.  Also ensure that the area where you would like your furniture placed is free and clear of any items that may obstruct a passageway.  Please secure your pets, furniture pieces can be large and heavy and we do not want anything to happen by accident.  Your furniture will be placed in your room of choice.  For insurance and liability reasons, we are not permitted to move any existing furniture, electronics or other household belongings.  We do not hang pictures, mirrors, shelves, ect. on the walls, or make electrical connections on any powered item.  A minimum service fee of $80.00 will be charged if the area is not clear and ready for new furniture to be placed.

Q:  Can my existing furniture be moved and/or taken away for disposal?

A:  Unfortunately, we cannot.  However, there are many nonprofit organizations that will gladly come to your home and remove these items at no charge.  Also, ask family and close friends if they have a need to re-purpose what you currently own.  Please have this done prior to us arriving.

CARE OF FABRIC UPHOLSTERY

Q:  How should I care for my upholstered furniture?

A:  Taking proper care of your new upholstered furniture will help keep it looking beautiful for many years. Remember, the same amount of dust that builds up on your end tables, coffee table and television also builds up on your upholstery; it's just not as noticeable on fabric. To preserve that showroom look, vacuum your upholstered furniture regularly using the wand attachment.

  • If possible, flip and rotate your cushions once a month. This will ensure even fabric fading and foam core wear.

  • If there are zippers on the backs or arms of your furniture, don't hesitate to unzip them, reach inside and fluff the stuffing. It'll keep your furniture looking new longer.

  • Have your upholstered furniture cleaned by a trained, insured professional. It's a small investment that will extend the beauty and life of your furniture.

Make sure to clean up spills immediately before they soak in. If you haven't purchased your new furniture yet, we highly recommend our Guardsman Fabric Plus Protection Plan. It protects against food & beverage, undesirable stains from you and your pets, accidental damages and more for ten full years.  See store for cost and additional details.

Here are some upholstery cleaning codes and what they mean to you:

  • W: Spot clean with water-based upholstery shampoo or foam upholstery cleaner. Avoid soaking the fabric. Use a professional upholstery cleaning service that uses a water-based solution for overall cleaning..

  • S: Use a water-free upholstery cleaning agent for occasional spot cleaning. Don't use water-it may cause shrinking, bleeding or water spots.  Again, for best results use a professional upholstery cleaning service that uses a solvent-based solution for overall performance.

  • WS: Use either a water-based or solvent-based upholstery cleaner

Q:  How do I clean my leather furniture?

A:  Use a leather-upholstery-specific cleaner on your leather furniture. Never use anything harsh to clean it, such as saddle soap or mink oil. We sell appropriate leather cleaning and protecting products. After you clean the leather, apply leather-upholstery-specific conditioner to keep it supple and buttery soft. If you have more questions about caring for your new leather furniture, feel free to call your home furnishing consultant and he or she will be happy to help.

Q:  My furniture's fabric is pilling. What can I do about it?

A:  Here's the good news: pilling isn't a fabric defect. It is simply the fabric's tendency to release excess fibers that become trapped in the weave. You can maintain pilling easily using an appropriate fabric shaver. Using a fabric shaver on a regular basis will control pilling until the fabric stops shedding.
